These are the books I have in my reading pile for the next little bit.

Blood Meridian - Cromac McCarthy; this was the book I got in the Indigo Fall Party gift bag. It's on the 50 Life-Changing books list. I've read six of them so far, and this will be my seventh.

Impulse - Ellen Hopkins; My second Ellen Hopkins book! I'm very excited for this one, I've heard great things.

Anna and the French Kiss - Stephanie Perkins; My best friend recommended this one, apparently it's a very feel-good book. I saw it at chapters, liked the cover, so I bought it!

Pretty Little Liars - Sara Shepard; I've really gotten into the show, so I thought why not read the books, right? The books are always better that the movie/show.

Perfect Chemistry - Simone Elkeles; Okay, I basically got this book beacsue the author's first name is the same as mine :P. Can`t wait to read it!

Where have I been?

Hello Everyone!

I trust you are all doing well. So this summer has been extremely busy for me, and I apologize for completely neglecting this blog. I`ve been working really hard, to save up for university and a few other reasons. I also went to India for about three weeks, to visit family. It was a great trip and I had an amazing time, it was really great to spend time with family and friends and re-connect, I really miss them! But I`m back now, and decided to get back into blogging. I have read quite a few books and I`m excited to share my thoughts with you guys.

So, on Tuesday my best friend Laura(allofeverything) asked me to be her plus one for the Indigo Fall Party here in Toronto. We had such a great time! It was exciting to see the new products, they are all so modern and stylish. I especially like the owl book ends from the collection, I'm definitely thinking about getting them, seeing as I'm running out of place on my book shelf! Plus they are incredibly cute. Aside from the products, the venue itself was beautiful, it had a nice loft feel to it, it was very inspiring and gave Laura and me a few ideas for our future loft. The food too was delicious, it was inspired by Michael Smiths Chef at Home cookbook Collection (hes only my favourite chef on the food network!).So, that made my day. After that, we walked to Chapters and got a few new books (they will be featured in my next IMM post.) All in all, it was awesome, and we both had a great day!

Review

Plot: The book starts off at a medium pace, and the narrator; Kyle Straker describes his small British town, where everyone knows each other. It's the beginning of the summer, and school just let out. the whole town is preparing for their annual talent show, that happens to be a tradition everyone takes very seriously. Kyle hasn't been in the talent show, since; he embarrassed himself doing a magic act, when he was nine years old. Kyle's friend; (and neighbour, that constantly follows him around)Danny thinks he has a good chance of winning this year. After hypnotizing his own sister Ally, Danny thinks he has mastered the art of hypnosis.

The day of the talent show arrives, and Danny goes up on stage, ready to show the crowd his well practised skills. When no one else chooses to volunteer, Kyle and Lilly (Kyle's best friend's girlfriend) put up their hands. To them at that point, they just thought they were going into a harmless hypnosis act, and saving their friend from embarrassment. Mrs. O'Donnell and Mr. Peterson (two older people from Kyle's neighbourhood) also volunteer, not knowing what they were getting themselves into. The second the four of them were transported into this hypnotic stage; their lives change... forever, and nothing will ever be the same again.


My Thoughts: So this book was very... well, interesting. I can honestly say, I've never read anything like this before. It's completely bizarre, but in a good way. It's published in 2011, very recent, and incredibly easy to relate to. The writing style was a little simplistic. Since it's a British book, it has a lot of different slang that I'm not really used to. For example, when I first started reading this book I thought it was called 'zero point four', but it is actually 'nought point four'. Also, the spelling of some words are different, which took some getting used to. Overall, I thought this was a good read. It's a bit of a weird book, that makes you think, but no doubt, it was entertaining.

I would have to say the book im anticipating this summer is Forever by Maggie Stiefvater. It's the last book from the Wolves of Mercy Falls trilogy. I really enjoyed the first two books, and it's sad that it's almost over, the end of the last book was a huge cliff-hanger so, I'm really excited to see how the series will end.

Review

Plot:
This is the second book in Maggie Stiefvater's Wolves of Mercy falls series, the sequel to Shiver. Sam and Grace seem to be closer than ever. As in the first book, there are plenty of obstacles to overcome, but they seem to make their way through them quite easily. There are some new characters, like Beck's two new wolves; Cole and his best friend Victor. Since it is Beck's last year, and he wont be changing back, Sam is now in charge of the werewolves. He has a lot more responsibility, which he finds to be very overwhelming. It is Sam's duty to help the new wolves with their transformations, but this proves to be very difficult, especially with Cole because their personalities seem to clash. At first, the are like Day and Night. However, as their past life secrets get out, they learn more about each other and start to show each other some respect, and actually get along. Cole really surprises Sam at the end, when all seems to be lost and he has no reason for living, Cole reassures him and comes up with a solution.

My Thoughts:
I liked this book as much as the first one. I really like Grace, she's a very easy character to relate to. Her relationship with Sam is almost magical, they have such amazing chemistry. Every time someone/something jeopardizes their relationship, they still find a way to be together, they are so determined to make things work out. I really like Maggie Stiefvater's writing style in this series, and I also like that she uses more than one narrator. It lets you get inside character's head, and makes them more likable. The ending of the book didn't quench my thirst, so to speak. It wasn't as satisfying as I had hoped, but it keeps me waiting for the next one!
